Silicon Valley is a region in Northern California centered on the Santa Clara Valley, stretching from Palo Alto through San Jose and Cupertino, known as the global center for high technology and innovation. The region specializes in semiconductors, microprocessors, software and internet services, and hosts more than 30 Fortune 1000 companies including Apple, Google, Meta, Intel and Netflix.

San Jose itself is California's fastest-growing metropolitan economy and one of the wealthiest major regions in the world. The city adopted the official motto "Capital of Silicon Valley" in 1988, and major tech companies like Cisco, eBay, Adobe and PayPal maintain headquarters here. The San Jose Metropolitan Area accounts for roughly one-third of all U.S. venture capital investment, making it the epicenter of entrepreneurship and startup growth.

San Jose's rapid growth and concentrated wealth mean many households depend on income from high-tech sectors where individual earning power can shift quickly. A life insurance policy sized to cover the mortgage, childcare during tech-industry transitions, and education goals provides a safety net when income is disrupted, no matter the cause.
